Abstract:
Today's enterprise IT systems evolve continuously to accommodate changes in business requirements and technologies. This makes the IT systems harder to understand and manage; often leading to instability and outages.
Furthermore, IT system of most enterprises consists of thousands of interdependent components, including business applications, databases, and compute, communication and storage. This scale and complexity makes it difficult to manage these systems even with a large man-power of experts.
Today's approach to manage these systems is manual and highly intuition-driven. There is a critical need to bring a paradigm shift in the management of IT systems. The craft of managing these systems must be replaced with a scientific approach thereby ensuring stable IT systems.
In this series of talks I will be discussing various aspects of management of enterprise IT systems. I will be covering topics such as
- How to design a monitoring strategy?
- How to derive inter-component dependencies and model these systems?
- How to effectively debug performance problems and outages?
- How to proactive plan for change and growth?
