Abstract:
The first part of this talk covers the historical perspectives of ontological engineering, various contributions to the field of Semantics, and its evolution in computing, with perspectives and insights related to the evolving Web/Internet from a phonographic web to collaborative web, to Semantic web and finally leading to cultural web. We will discuss some of the core concepts of Semantic Computing and role of relationships between objects and how to use them effectively to reduce the design complexity of enterprise systems. Finally, some perspective on the new generation platform oriented computing and how the semantics of user experience is being altered fundamentally are presented. We will present some ideas on central architectural issues involved in building such systems and their relevance in modeling enterprise workflows.
