This is a project under Aakash labs working at IIT kanpur and Dr.T.V. Prabhakar ( Prof of CSE) is the principal investigator of the project.

The apps and the articles have been conceived and designed by Dr.Guhapriya Gurunath working as Project Scientist for Aakash Labs at I.I.T. Kanpur.

The apps that have been designed have been used in Aakash tablets regularly by the children of "Aashayen" (Formerly Spastics centre) Kanpur.

EDUCATIONAL APPS FOR THE CHILDREN WITH SPECIAL NEEDS

The apps are designed for the children with special needs. These are apps which would help these children as an augmentative teaching aid to learn the educational concepts in a better way. The apps are designed in android platform which can be used both in tablet technology and android supported mobile devices. This is an attempt to facilitate the teachers who are working in this area with the technological innovations. Tablets are a better gadget for these children since they are portable, easy to handle and it gives them the feeling of interactive technology because of the touch screen.

Handling teaching materials, and using the regular stationary is more cumbersome for these children. The children require consistent and repetitive training to retain the concepts that they have learnt. The apps just provides this big support and comfort to the children with varied multiple disabilities and learning challenges.
