"Students should be informed in the first class that they are allowed to freely drop the course before the add/drop deadline. After this deadline, the drop request form requires the student to provide additional evidence and reasons for drop; for example, medical certificates, below-average performance in the midsems, or a statement from the instructor saying that the student has performed poorly in the first half of the course."
