In early 1901, rabIndranAth wrote:

That year he moved to Shantiniketan, where he was to live for 40 years.
However, he kept shifting houses, initially within the campus (shAntiniketan,
dehali, dvArik), but when it grew large he shifted to a thatched roof home
outside, initially called "uttarAyaN" but graually transformed into what is
know as "koNArk" today. He also lived in several other houses constructed in
this area: udayan, shyAmalI, punashcha, and udIchI.
